Should the US Government Lower the Voting Age to Ten Years?

Should the US Government Lower the Voting Age to Ten Years? Can the US government lower the voting age to ten years? This is a question that comes up when debating voting rights. Should the voting age be lowered? The answer to that question depends on who you ask.On one hand, you have a group of people, mostly Democrats, who believe in public opinion polls and would argue that the voting age should be lowered. They say that because our country is becoming more 'democratic', we should allow those that are not old enough to vote to be elected. They claim that it gives more young people a chance to participate in the democratic process. They also state that all people have equal rights. Therefore, they say, everyone has the right to be a voter. On the other hand, you have the Republican Party, which states that America is being led down a path towards socialism and it is much too early to discuss things like voting rights. They claim that voter turnout is low, and that young people should not be voting yet. They believe that the American political system is one of few democratic countries in the world, and that the US would not be able to work properly if everybody voted. There are a number of things that may differ between these two groups of people. For instance, many conservatives would suggest that everyone should get the right to vote at a young age, but they would also argue that the American political system is too slow. It could take years before someone gets elected into office, or there may be a war before they get into office. On the other hand, some people would be so frustrated by all of the problems in the United States, that they would argue that we should do something about the voting age at least to give those that are too young a chance to get involved. They would even argue that the United States should limit the amount of money that is spent on elections or reduce them.If you want to debate this issue, then you should be aware that there are a lot of people who believe that changing the voting age is only going to cost more money, cause more problems, and ultimately make the American political system worse. On the other hand, if you agree with the contention that the voting age should be lowered, then you will probably agree with most of what you hear from Republicans and those that have never voted in their lives. As a matter of fact, there are going to be a lot of arguments on both sides as to what should be the US government's position on this issue. You should have a firm idea of the two positions, before you begin to argue about the topic.
